ਰਾਜ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਆਮਦਨ ਤੇ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਹਾਲਤ ਸੁਧਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਰੀਆ ਬਣੀ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਹਤ 'ਤੇ ਦਿਨ-ਬ-ਦਿਨ ਹਾਵੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਂਝ ਤਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਕੜ 'ਚ ਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਦੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ 'ਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਦੀ ਖਪਤ 'ਚ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਤੀਸਰਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਰਾਜ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਸ਼ਰਾਬ ਦੀ ਸਾਲਾਨਾ ਖਪਤ 'ਚ ਕੇਰਲ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਰਾਜਾਂ 'ਚ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਨੰਬਰ 'ਤੇ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ 

Drug abuse threatens Punjab's population

The Indian state of Punjab is in the grip of a drug abuse crisis. Surveys indicate that more than half of all rural households are home to at least one drug addict, a problem most severe along the Pakistan border.

Manish Khular, an 18-year-old school dropout is smoking smack, an adulterated form of heroin, in a dingy flat along with a bunch of friends. He carefully prepares a wrap of the drug, then leans over the heated silver foil to smoke it before lolling back, staring wide-eyed at the ceiling.

There was a time when Punjab and Its people were known for there health and wealth as well with there Simple Living and High Thinking, and Punjab was called with "The Golden Sparrow". But now there will be nothing wrong if we call it "The Drugs Sparrow". Specially youth of Punjab who often feels proud to call themselves "Lions of Punjab" But all that things has been lost now.
